Ruth, a young author struck by writer's block, receives a peculiar request for help by a stranger and might get a lot more than she bargained for in return...

Made for the Bitsy Community Secret Santa 2019, for itch.io user dumplingsquid, to whom we wish very happy holidays! The prompts given for this game were scrawls, river and underground.  We hope we were up to the task!

We're just in the nick of time because of a computer malfunction which caused the loss of more than half of the data- but this too is a rite of passage for budding gamedevs!

And now for some credits:

Happy holidays to the entire Bitsy community from Bea and Sonia!

This is wonderful! I love how the dialog guides you to the next item you should pick up so it's like a single, flowing story thread. Also love a good Rozencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead reference 😏

oh wow this is great, thank you so much!! it was so cute and i loved seeing how you interpreted each of the prompts!! i loved watching this sweet little mystery unfold... and i'm glad they ended up getting their reunion!

Ahhhhh we're so glad you liked it! We were actually a bit worried because we're just starting out, while your games (though we still haven't played them all) are incredible and truly showcase what makes Bitsy great and how far this editor can be pushed!

Thank you again! :)

this game is really sweet!! i love the way you made the conversation continue through actions of picking up items!!! haha the story is really funny!!! i knew i smelled something fishy! this was really fun!!! the way you narratively told it was brilliant!!

only thing i'd mention is maybe making making more than a single tile be an exit when you have an implied pathway to move- like the road is wide but only one tile exits u to the next one so if you sorta have to find it.. its nothing bad or serious, just makes it a tiny bit less intuitive! (not something u have to fix as after a bit its easy to remember its just the middle tile each time!!) AS SAID THIS IS NOT SOMETHING U HAVE TO CONSIDER IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO!!

Thank you so much for liking the game and for your precious insight again! We hadn't thought about the exit thing, but it makes total sense and we will definitely implement it in future games- thanks again! :)

no problem!!! it was a pleasure to play it <3
